Focusing on camps that have become increasingly popular in recent years, we are doing our best to publicize the campgrounds that are open in the Joetsu area (Joetsu City, Myoko City, Itoigawa City). Not only detailed information on each campground, but also spots recommended by the editorial department will be posted. It’s good to have fun with your family, or to enjoy your time as a solo camper.  Why don’t you go out to play in the great outdoors?

One of the largest campgrounds in Japan!
A plan where you can enjoy camping without any preparation is now available!

“Sasagamine Campground” in Suginosawa, Myoko City, Niigata Prefecture.  If you drive for more than 10 kilometers on a mountain road surrounded by greenery in the Myoko-Togakushi Renzan National Park, you will find one of the largest camping grounds in Japan on the Sasagamine Plateau at an altitude of 1300 m.

Sasagamine, which is rich in nature, has multiple courses.  These courses are not only perfect for serious trekking, but there are also good short courses for a family hike.  One great feature is that it is cooler than the plains in summer, and there is no doubt that you can enjoy a comfortable outdoor life there.  At night, if the weather is nice, you can enjoy the sky filled with stars.

As the name suggests, Sasagamine Campground is one of the largest in Japan. There are places on the site where you can bring your car, and there are places where you can freely set up tents wherever you like.  There are plans that everyone from beginners to advanced campers can enjoy.

The campground has three areas: “Auto-campground A, with AC power”, “Auto-campground B”, and “Free-campground where tents can be set up wherever you like”.  There are covered kitchens and toilets on the campground that can provide shelter from sudden rain.  The ground of the tent sites is grass.
