“Himegawara Cafe KOTARO-” in the Kubota district of Himegawara, Myoko City, Niigata Prefecture. It is a cafe that has been renovated from an unoccupied house and retains the taste of an old folk house with thick beams and pillars.

From the seats, you can see the garden and enjoy the scenery of the four seasons, such as cherry blossoms and autumn leaves.

The owner of the cafe is Mr. Sekihara. He has a unique background, a junior high school teacher after graduating from college, and then a reporter at the local newspaper Joetsu Times.

Mr. Sekihara says that he faced a problem of declining regional power during his experience as a teacher and newspaper reporter. So, he decided to make a base for the area. We have created a cafe as a place where local people can naturally gather and stay longer without worrying about it.

Daily set 800 yen (tax included)

Also, Mr. Sekihara, who has a qualification as a vegetable sommelier. The dishes we offer are also unique to the region. The daily set includes plenty of vegetables grown by the local people.

The main course of meat and fish comes with a small bowl of vegetables, rice, and miso soup, which are hem of the locals. Vegetables that were grown only for what you eat are now being offered at cafes, which seems to be connected to the purpose of life for everyone in the area.
