You can enjoy soba made from freshly harvested buckwheat in various places!

Niigata Prefecture is famous for producing rice, but during this season, you can enjoy soba made from freshly harvested buckwheat.  It is made from locally-produced high-quality buckwheat flour throughout Joetsu in Niigata Prefecture.  From this weekend to November, there will be holding events related to freshly harvested buckwheat soba in various areas in Joetsu city.  Why don’t you go out to enjoy the rich taste and aroma of soba?




Syoubu Miyama Soba Festival
*Limited to Joetsu citizens
■ Date and time: Saturday, October 31st, Sunday, November 1st, 10: 30-14: 30
■ Venue: Iida House (318 Shoubu, Oshima-Ward, Joetsu City, Niigata Prefecture)
■ Menu: “Juwari Soba” made with 100% locally produced buckwheat flour and Kannon spring water (Tenzaru 1,200 yen (a plate of cold soba accompanied by a plate of tempura), Zaru soba 800 yen (a plate of cold soba), Tempura soba 1,000 yen (hot soba topped with tempura). In addition, salt-grilled chars fish baked in a Japanese traditional fireplace(hearth), will be available.

Itakura Ward New Soba Festival
■Date: October 31st (Sat), November 1st (Sun) 11: 00-15: 00 (L.O 14:30)
■ Venue: Soba-dokoro Itakura-tei (894-3 Itakura-Ward Hari, Joetsu City, Niigata Prefecture)
■ Offer menu: Yokubari set: 1,000 yen (limited to 100 meals each day, will end as soon as it runs out) A set of handmade soba made from buckwheat flour from Hikarigahara

The Perfect day for Kuwadori Valley Soba
■ Date and time: November 6th (Fri), 7th (Sat), 13th (Fri), 14th (Sat), 20th (Fri), 21st (Sat), 27th (Fri), 28th ( Sat) 11: 00-16: 00
■ Venue: Kominka Cafe Heizaemon (524 Yokobatake, Joetsu City, Niigata Prefecture)
■ Contents: 100% buckwheat flour “Toyomusume” from Kuwadori.  Limited to 30 meals each day, 1,200 yen per meal.  Also offering curry, sweets, and drinks other than soba.

Kiyosato New Soba Festival
■Date and time: Sunday, November 8th, 11: 00-14: 00
■ Venue: View Kyogatake(3438 Aoyagi, Kiyosato-Ward, Joetsu City, Niigata Prefecture)
■ Menu: You can enjoy new buckwheat using locally produced buckwheat flour and Kiyosato’s excellent natural yam. Limited to 300 meals, offered for 1,100 yen per meal.  New soba noodles will also be sold for 1,600 yen, enough for 3 meals. Only 50 packs will be available.

Kiyosato Specialty New Soba Day
■ Date: November 14th (Sat), 15th (Sun), 21st (Sat), 22nd (Sun) 11: 00-14: 00
■Venue: View Kyogatake(3438 Aoyagi, Kiyosato-Ward, Joetsu City, Niigata Prefecture)
■ Menu: New soba with tempura is offered for 1,100 yen per meal.  In addition, advance tickets allow you to enjoy the soba for 1,000 yen per meal. Advance tickets are also on sale at the NPO Kiyosato Town Development Promotion Association until Sunday, November 1st.
