Hydrangea turns red ! ? 

An event to make a wreath using beautiful autumn leaves will be held from October 9th (Friday) to 14th (Wednesday) at Akakura Onsen in Myoko City, Niigata Prefecture.

Autumnal colored hydrangea wreath

This event is the one and only opportunity to make a wreath using “Autumn leaves hydrangea” which is colored in red and green. It is a specialty of Akakura Onsen.

Around the Akakura Onsen district in Myoko City, hydrangeas are in full bloom in August, later than in lowland areas.  Unusually, the flowers turn into deep autumnal colors in the fall.  It is said that this is influenced by the climate and soil at an altitude of about 800m.

The wreath making is planned mainly by the proprietresses of Akakura Onsen town so that you can experience the wonderful natural environment of the plateau, and heal your body and soul.

We have set a limit of 15 people at the event to avoid crowding.  If you have participated before, you can bring the wreath you made last time and remake it.  The venue is the clubhouse of the putter golf course next to Akakura Tenshindo.  You can choose two times: from 9:30, and from 11:00, and the cost is 2,000 yen (with tea).  A handmade bazaar is also held at the venue during the period.
