Mitsuzoin is a temple that manages the Yakushido sacred building on the summit of Yoneyama.  Many believers still visit here as a starting point before climbing Yoneyama.  About 1000 strains of hydrangea have begun to gradually change color along the approach to the temple, as well as on the temple grounds.  Mr. Masao Koike, who lives nearby, has been increasing the Hydrangeas by planting cuttings over a period of 20 years.

According to priest Yoshitaka Sato of Mitsuzoin, the best time to see the hydrangeas in full bloom is from the end of this month to the beginning of next month.  The best location is from the temple grounds through to the Yoneyama trailhead.
