Lotte Alai Resort, a ski resort in Myoko City, Niigata Prefecture, has won the Grand Prize, the highest award in three categories, in the SKI ASIA contest, a website introducing ski resorts in Asia. This is the third consecutive year that Alai Resort has won the grand prize, and Alai Resort hopes that this award will encourage people from other Asian countries to visit the resort.
The contest was started by “SKI ASIA” three years ago. Judging is done by readers’ votes in each of the three countries of Japan, China, and Korea. Japan has seven categories, and Lotte Alai Resort won the Grand Prize, the highest award, in three categories: “Family Ski Resort,” “Powder Ski Resort,” and “Ski Hotel. In addition, Lotte Alai Resort was awarded the Grand Prize for Excellence in the overall category of “Ski Resorts.
According to SKI ASIA, Alai Resort received particularly high marks for its 14 runs, vast areas of unpaved slopes, abundant snow with an average annual snowfall of 20 meters, and powder snow.
Lotte Alai Resort had experienced a decline in foreign tourists for two years due to the Corona disaster, but he said he hoped that this award would encourage tourists from Asia as well as Europe and the United States to visit the resort.
