Focusing on camps that have become increasingly popular in recent years, we are doing our best to publicize  the campgrounds that are open in the Joetsu area (Joetsu City, Myoko City, Itoigawa City).  Not only detailed information on each campground, but also spots recommended by the editorial department will be posted.  It’s good to have fun with your family, or to enjoy your time as a solo camper. Why don’t you go out to play in the great outdoors?

Campground for climbers. The open-air bath in an attractive wilderness location

The Renge hot spring campground is located near the prefectural border of Nagano and Toyama prefectures at the western end of Niigata prefecture.  The altitude is about 1500 meters.  It is located in the Chubusangaku National Park centered on the Hida Mountains, and is very close to the trailheads of Niigata’s representative mountains such as Mt. Asahi and Mt. Korenge.  This campground is mainly used by climbers.

Renge Hot Springs Lodge

The reception is at the mountain lodge “Renge Onsen Lodge,” which is the gateway to the Northern Alps from the Niigata prefecture side.  Please apply in advance by phone.

The campground is about 600 meters away from the lodge.  There is only a parking lot at the lodge, from which you can rent a handcart to carry your luggage.

There are 35 tent sites, which can be used anywhere there is a vacancy.  The ground is grass and some gravel.

Toilet

There are two cooking buildings and two toilets on the campground.  Because it is close to the mountain climbing trailhead, many users stay for mountain climbing as well as simply camping.

Surrounded by forests, you can spend a relaxing time in a quiet environment.  If you move to the area around Renge Onsen Lodge, you can get a panoramic view of the magnificent Northern Alps.  In addition, you can see the starry sky at night.  Of course, you can also enjoy the hot springs at the lodge.
