1.Features of the slopes and courses
Approximately 20 minutes by car from the Joshinetsu Expressway’s Myoko Kogen IC or Shinano-machi IC. Tangram Ski Circus, located on the northwest slope of Mt. Madarao in Shinano-machi, Nagano Prefecture, is a snow resort that combines skiing, play, and lodging, featuring comprehensive family-friendly facilities and services.

From the Tangram Ski Circus Official Website
Enjoy the finest powder snow while taking in the breathtaking views of the Northern Shinano Five Peaks and Lake Nojiri. With 5 lifts and 19 courses catering to all skill levels (30% beginner, 40% intermediate, 30% advanced), there’s something for everyone.
The slopes are meticulously groomed and maintained in excellent condition. Each course features distinct layouts: some offer a leisurely glide, others concentrate on features, and still others let you pick up speed.
Rental equipment and lesson schools are well-equipped, allowing everyone from beginners to advanced skiers and snowboarders to enjoy the slopes. The ski area connects to the adjacent Madarao Kogen Ski Resort, and using a Mount Pass (joint lift ticket) expands your skiing area even further.

Kids Park (from the Tangram Ski Circus official website)
A 40-meter moving walkway has been installed in the Kids Park, freeing visitors from the hassle of pulling sleds and skis up the slope. Visitors can use the provided sleds, ball carousel, and other play equipment free of charge.
2.Activities
Snow Rafting
A key feature is its wide range of snow activities. Snow rafting, where you ride in a raft pulled by a snowmobile as it races across the snow, is thrilling and hugely popular.

Snowmobile
Right in front of the hotel, a dedicated 200-meter-long course lets you enjoy the exhilarating thrill of snowmobiling.
Nojiri Lake Terrace, located at an elevation of 1,100 meters, offers panoramic views of Lake Nojiri and the Northern Shinano Five Peaks. It has become a popular photography spot, even for those who don’t ski or snowboard.
Tangram Madarao Hot Springs Open-Air Bath
Hotel Tangram connects directly to the slopes, making travel a breeze even for families with young children. With hot springs and a pool on-site, you can enjoy a memorable ski trip with family or friends. Additionally, non-skiers can enjoy diverse activities like day-trip hot springs to soothe tired muscles and an indoor pool with a jacuzzi.
