The autumn gondola will start on Saturday, October 17th at Myoko Kogen Suginohara Ski Resort in Myoko City, Niigata Prefecture. Normally, it will be open from the end of September, but this year it will be open for about two weeks from October 17th (Sat) to November 3rd (Tuesday / holiday) due to COVID-19.

Go to the gondola mountaintop station where you can enjoy a 3km length, 18-minute duration, aerial tour, looking down at the trees colored in red and yellow. There is a promenade near the mountaintop station at an altitude of 1,500 m, and you can enjoy a leisurely stroll in the wilderness among trees such as beech, birch, and linden. From the observation deck, Lake Nojiri is in the foreground, and the mountains of Kita Shinano are beyond the lake. On days of good visibility, you may even see Mt. Fuji.
As of October 15th, in the Suginohara area, autumn colors have come to the trees near the summit. From this weekend when the gondola starts to October 24th (Sat) and 25th (Sun), the autumn colors of Suginohara are likely to be at their peak.
