1.Features of the slopes and courses
Located in northern Nagano Prefecture, Nozawa Onsen Ski Resort is a top-class domestic snow resort with a total course area of 297 hectares and a maximum run length of 10 kilometers. It is a 25-minute drive from the Toyoda-Iiyama Interchange on the Joshinetsu Expressway. The slopes typically open in late November, offering skiing enjoyment for approximately five months until spring.
Course Map / From Nozawa Onsen Ski Resort Official Website
The maximum slope angle is 39 degrees, and the resort offers a total of 43 diverse slopes and courses to satisfy everyone from first-time beginners to advanced skiers (Beginner: 40%, Intermediate: 30%, Advanced: 30%).

Kaminotaira Ski Area

Paradise Slopes
The Kaminotaira Slope and Paradise Slope are wide and feature many gentle areas, making them perfect slopes for beginners.

Skyline Course
The Skyline Course, offering a thrilling 4.5-kilometer long run, and the Yamabiko Slope in the mountaintop area, where you can enjoy magnificent mountain views and breathtaking scenery of the Sea of Japan, are popular with intermediate and advanced skiers. With an elevation difference of 1,085 meters from the top of the slopes to the base, the exhilarating feeling of skiing down in one go is a unique charm of this ski resort.

This ski resort is renowned for its excellent snow quality. The deep, powdery natural snow that accumulates on the slopes is dry and fluffy, with low moisture content. This allows skis to grip well, making turns easy and enabling even beginners to glide smoothly.

The gondola, renovated in 2020
For the best snow conditions, we recommend the peak season from December to February. The area boasts abundant snowfall throughout the season, allowing skiing until as late as Golden Week in May.
Located on the third floor of Nagasaka Center House, the well-stocked rental shop “Salomon Station” offers rentals tailored to your needs and duration. In addition to ski and snowboard gear, they also rent snowshoes and snow scooters. Enjoy skiing or snowboarding on the first day, then try a new winter sport on the second. Even beginners or those without equipment can easily enjoy skiing by renting gear, making it perfect for those wanting a quick ski session during a hot spring getaway.
Beyond skiing, the resort offers a variety of other activities. These include the Zip Sky Ride, a zip line that takes you from the top of Hikage Slope all the way down to the base over a distance of 652 meters at speeds reaching up to 70 km/h. Other options are the Beech Forest Nature Snowshoe Tour, where you explore the pristine beech forest, and the Snowfield Sightseeing Tour, which takes you around the snowy plains in a snowmobile.
