Along with the cherry blossom viewing party, enjoy artworks that can only be seen on that day!

In conjunction with the Takada Joshi Park Cherry Blossom Viewing Party, an artwork will be shown in the evening of Saturday, March 30 at Shunju Kaikan, a cylindrical building located next to the Joetsu Regional Development Bureau in Honjo-cho, Joetsu City, Niigata Prefecture.

The artwork that will be open to the public on Saturday the 30th from 7pm to 9pm is “pray to Flames”.
The venue, Shunju Kaikan, will be illuminated, and in front of it, a 5-meter-high objet d’art made of construction scaffolding and metal plates will be displayed.
The music is inspired by “Goze” and was selected by Hiraku Yamamoto, the violinist of the instrumental metal band NABOWA, and will be accompanied by lights to represent flames.

His works will be exhibited by Hisato Soma, an artist living in Joetsu City.
Soma is self-taught in art, and having previously owned a tropical fish store, he combines aquarium art with sculpture and other art forms.

Shunju Kaikan

Mr. Soma became interested in Shunju Kaikan, a cylindrical building that is no longer in use in Joetsu City, and in an effort to publicize the valuable architecture, he opened an outdoor artwork using the building to the public for the first time last year, just in time for the cherry blossom viewing party.

This year, because of the Noto Peninsula earthquake that occurred on January 1 and a series of fires in Takata and other major disasters, the art works will be opened to the public in cooperation with companies in Joetsu City as a symbol of the city’s desire for recovery.

Hisato Soma
A major earthquake and a fire that engulfed several buildings have cast a dark shadow over the Joetsu region since the beginning of this year.
I would be happy if the fact that there are artists in Joetsu who are engaged in activities like mine can bring a little light to the topic and brighten people’s hearts.
Along with cherry blossom viewing, enjoy a special artwork that can only be enjoyed on that day.

In addition, a charity event “Hanami Kibun.” led by “VINCULO,” a store selling flowers and coffee in Iwaki, Joetsu City, will be held in the parking lot in front of Shunju Kaikan for two days on Saturday, March 30 and Sunday, March 31. The event will be held at the parking lot in front of the Joetsu City Iwaki.
Coffee and dried flowers will be sold by VINCULO, and gourmet food will also be available at the stalls of “laba laba,” a takoyaki (octopus dumpling) shop in Nagano, and “ciel,” a cheese and canele store.
A portion of the proceeds from this event will be donated to the citizens of Joetsu City who were affected by the Noto Peninsula earthquake.
