The “Lerch Winter SWEETS Fair,” an event where pastry stores and bakeries in Joetsu City, Niigata Prefecture, gather to taste new sweets, will be held at Duo Cerezo on Saturday, February 10.
This event was planned to stimulate winter consumption of confectionery products, which has declined due to snowfall and other factors.
Seventeen famous Joetsu sweets stores will have 14 booths, each selling 5 products, including new sweets.
On the stage, from 0:30 p.m., there will be a talk show and demonstration by famous pastry chef Hiroyuki Emori, and tasting of creative sweets made with ingredients from Joetsu.
Mr. Emori studied at Patisserie FRESSON in France under Mr. Franck Fresson, a MOF (National Order of the Best Craftsman) award winner, and participated in the Ice Cream and Chocolate World Cup at the 2015 Milan Expo as team captain of the Japanese team, leading them to victory. He opened his first patisserie, MAISON GIVREE, and is currently a member of the “Team Chef” project, which supports food businesses nationwide.
The tasting of creative sweets will be limited to the first 100 people, and numbered tickets will be distributed starting at 10:10 am. Those who do not get a numbered ticket will receive a surprise gift.
In addition, visitors can enjoy the “Sweets Judge ㏌ Joetsu,” in which Mr. Emori will serve as a judge and eat and judge the exhibitors’ products.
