Mizubasho (Asian skunk-cabbage) at “Imori Pond” in Myoko Plateau, Myoko City, Niigata Prefecture, has started blooming later than usual and will be at its best during this consecutive holidays. Also, the annual spring festival “Sougen Festival” will be held on the 3rd of next month, the first time in 3 years.

According to the Myoko Plateau Visitor Center, Mizubasho (Asian skunk-cabbage) started blooming last week, later than usual. This means that Mizubashou flowers, which usually finish before the consecutive holidays, can be enjoyed during the holidays this year.

Myoko Plateau will hold its annual spring “Sougen Festival” from the 3rd to the 5th of next month for the first time in three years. The famous “Ookayaba-yaki” will be held from 7:00 p.m. on the 3rd. At the main site around Imori Pond, there will be kitchen cars, fireworks and sky lanterns.
