Madarao Kogen Ski Resort is a snow resort located at an altitude of 1000 meters on the border between Myoko City, Niigata Prefecture, and Iiyama City, Nagano Prefecture. It is a 25-minute drive from the Joshinetsu Expressway’s “Myoko Kogen IC” interchange.
Characterized by abundant 100% natural snowfall and high-quality powder snow. Its diverse 32 courses boast Japan’s largest scale, offering ample challenge for beginners, families, intermediate, and advanced skiers alike. With 15 tree-run courses winding through forests that remain as close to nature as possible, the resort boasts one of Japan’s largest course networks. (Beginner 30%, Intermediate 35%, Advanced 35%).
The slopes feature a groomed run perfect for enjoying the fresh morning conditions, along with a beginner/intermediate snow park offering boxes and jumps. The upper slopes become steeper as you ascend toward the summit and gradually ease as you descend toward the base, making the upper slopes popular for powder skiing.
The Kids Park near the entrance features a moving walkway snow escalator, so you can play without having to walk up the slope. The Kids Park also has an indoor playroom with play equipment, allowing children to play indoors even in bad weather.

On the right side of the map, it connects to the Tangram Ski Circus. By purchasing a Mountain Pass (shared lift ticket), you can enjoy skiing at both ski areas. Combined with the Tangram Ski Circus, you can enjoy a total of 51 varied course layouts.
When you visit the ski resort, the view from the summit is something you absolutely must see. The panorama stretches out below you, encompassing Lake Nojiri, Mount Kurohime and Mount Myōkō directly ahead, and even the Northern Alps in the distance. You can feast your eyes on the awe-inspiring beauty of nature.

Near the 5th Lift, “AKI’S BURGER in Tirol” features an authentic espresso machine, a pool table (free to use), and sofa seating where you can relax and enjoy your time.
Our top recommendation is the Double Cheese Burger made with Angus beef for ¥2,800 (tax included). The patties are juicy and loaded with sauce, the buns are crispy and fluffy, and it’s a satisfyingly hearty meal.
