Akakura Onsen Ski Resort is located adjacent to Akakura Onsen hot spring town in Myoko City, Niigata Prefecture, an 8-minute drive from the Joshinetsu Expressway’s Myoko Kogen Interchange.
Spanning the foothills of Myoko Kogen lies a vast ski area renowned for its exceptional snow quality, attracting international attention. With 100% natural snowfall, it’s also known as one of Japan’s heaviest snowfall regions, where the powder snow on unpacked courses captivates skiers.

The spacious slopes feature a total of 17 courses, offering enjoyable skiing for all skill levels from beginners to experts. With many wide, gentle slopes, first-time skiers and families can enjoy themselves with peace of mind (Beginner: 50%, Intermediate: 40%, Advanced: 10%).
Family-friendly amenities are also plentiful. There’s a hill perfect for sledding, and a dedicated kids’ park featuring plastic slides and seesaws.
Akakura Onsen Ski Resort is the only ski area in the Myoko region offering night skiing every day. Operating hours are from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM. Furthermore, every Saturday and the day before holidays, we perform pre-night grooming, allowing you to enjoy pristine slopes just like first thing in the morning.
The Akakura Onsen area is also known as a stay-type winter resort. It’s hugely popular with foreign tourists for offering both skiing and hot springs amidst the great outdoors. The ski resort area boasts a wide selection of lodging, hot springs, and dining options, allowing visitors to fully enjoy their après-ski activities.
