Naoe Umi Machi Art 2025 opens on Saturday, August 23! (Joetsu City, Niigata Prefecture)

An event called “Let’s Connect Naoetsu Umi Machi Art 2025,” which will turn the town of Naoetsu in Joetsu City, Niigata Prefecture, into an art stage, will be held from Saturday, August 23. In addition to exhibitions of works by local artists, there will be workshops that both children and adults can enjoy, as well as a stamp rally in the town center. This year’s event is sure to be packed with excitement.

This event was first held in 2021 with the aim of revitalizing Naoetsu through citizen-participatory “art” and contributing to regional revitalization.

This year’s slogan for the fifth anniversary is “Everyone, let’s create a seaside town together.” The executive committee members will work together with the people of Naoetsu to create a seaside town. Children’s artwork will be displayed throughout the town of Naoetsu, and various art exhibitions will be held at venues such as the Naoetsu Yatai Kaikan, the Lion Statue Hall, Muji, and Umigatari.

〇Let’s make a ceramic wind chime
We will make a ceramic wind chime using white clay called “magnetic clay.”

■Date: August 24 (Sun)
Morning session: 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. / Afternoon session: 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.
■Capacity: 12 people per session (advance registration required, first come, first served)
■Venue: Naoetsu Yatai Festival Site
■Fee: 1,000 yen
■Application Deadline: August 12 (Tue)
■Application: “Let’s Make a Ceramic Wind Chime!” Participation Application

 

〇Welcome, new friends of Umigatari!
Create your own artwork with clay and take a commemorative photo at your favorite spot in Umigatari.

■Date and time: Saturday, August 30, 13:30-15:30
■Target audience: 8 parent-child pairs (advance registration required, first come, first served)
■Venue: Joetsu City Aquarium Umigatari
■Fee: 100 yen (separate admission fee for Umigatari required)
■Application Deadline: Tuesday, August 12
■Application: “☆Welcome☆New Friends at Umigatari☆” Participation Application

 

〇Burari  Naoetsu Walk
Walk around Naoetsu with a master of walking tours and learn about its history and culture.

■Date and time: ①August 24 (Sun) 9:00-11:30 / ②August 30 (Sat) 9:00-11:30
*Both days will meet at Yasaka Shrine and end at Elmar.
■Application Period: ① August 3 (Sun) to 17 (Sun) / ② August 9 (Sat) to 23 (Sat)
■Application: “Burari Naoetsu Sanpo” Participation Application
