Kubikino Rail Park in Momo-cho, Kubiki Ward, Joetsu City, which is well-known for “Koppel-go,” will be open to the public on Children’s Day, May 5 (Monday, national holiday). Visitors will be able to experience a ride on the precious “Koppel-go” and there will be many other events for children.

The Kubikino Rail Park preserves the locomotives and carriages of the Kubiki Railway, which was closed down more than 50 years ago in 1971, and allows visitors to learn about the history of the Kubiki Railway, which was active for more than half a century.

The Kubiki Treasures Preservation Society, an organization established 20 years ago to revitalize the town by using local treasures, manages and operates the museum and regularly opens it to the public. The first open house of the year will be on Children’s Day, May 5. This year, “Koppel-go: Locomotive Classroom” will be held to learn about Koppel while touching the steam locomotive, and a family concert will be held with live instrumental performances by musicians Yuko Ueno and Mizuki Maruyama.
