To commemorate the 110th anniversary of the birth of Japanese skiing, the Joetsu City Lerhi Association performed a single cane ski at the Itoigawa Seaside Valley Ski Resort in Itoigawa City.<\/p>\r\n

It was a member of the Lerch Association in Joetsu City who showed off the single cane ski.<\/p>\r\n

Skiing was introduced 110 years ago by the Austro-Hungarian military officer, Theodor von Lerch, in Joetsu, Japan. At that time, Lerch told me that instead of using two stocks as they are today, skiing with a single cane. At the Lerch Association, the skiing technology of the time, “single cane skiing,” is being passed on to the present.<\/p>\r\n

The Itoigawa Seaside Valley Ski Resort in Itoigawa City has invited the “Lerhi no Kai” for the first time since this year marks the 110th anniversary of the birth of Japanese skiing.<\/p>\r\n
