This milestone year saw actor Ken Matsudaira take on the role of Kenshin, displaying his valiant presence.<\/p>\r\n<p><a class=\"swipebox\" href=\"https:\/\/joetsu.yukiguni.town\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/Still0825_00000-2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter  wp-image-294849\" src=\"https:\/\/joetsu.yukiguni.town\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/Still0825_00000-2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"450\" data-low-src=\"https:\/\/joetsu.yukiguni.town\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/Still0825_00000-2-400x225.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/p>\r\n<p>The 100th anniversary of the Kenshin Festival began with the lighting of the bonfire, as it does every year.<\/p>\r\n<p><a class=\"swipebox\" href=\"https:\/\/joetsu.yukiguni.town\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/Still0825_00001-3.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter  wp-image-294850\" src=\"https:\/\/joetsu.yukiguni.town\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/Still0825_00001-3.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"802\" height=\"451\" data-low-src=\"https:\/\/joetsu.yukiguni.town\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/Still0825_00001-3-400x225.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/p>\r\n<p>Joetsu Tourism and Convention Association Chairman Tomoharu Yamada<br \/>\r\n\u201cThis is a milestone year, marking our 100th anniversary. We have continued without interruption. This is the only place where Kenshin Uesugi was born. We want to cherish it.\u201d<\/p>\r\n<p><a class=\"swipebox\" href=\"https:\/\/joetsu.yukiguni.town\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/Still0825_00003-2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter  wp-image-294854\" src=\"https:\/\/joetsu.yukiguni.town\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/Still0825_00003-2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"450\" data-low-src=\"https:\/\/joetsu.yukiguni.town\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/Still0825_00003-2-400x225.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/p>\r\n<p>The Mikoshi procession of Lord Kenshin was carried out by approximately 300 residents of Kasugayama Town over two days, visiting 22 neighborhoods.<\/p>\r\n<p><a class=\"swipebox\" href=\"https:\/\/joetsu.yukiguni.town\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/Still0825_00004-2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter  wp-image-294852\" src=\"https:\/\/joetsu.yukiguni.town\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/Still0825_00004-2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"450\" data-low-src=\"https:\/\/joetsu.yukiguni.town\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/Still0825_00004-2-400x225.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/p>\r\n<p>Then, at around 4:30 p.m., with the temperature exceeding 30 degrees Celsius, the main event, the \u201cparade,\u201d began. It was wonderful. I felt a sense of history. I want to come again next year. I hope it continues for a long time.\u201d<\/p>\r\n<p>From the local community<br \/>\r\n\u201cIt was great. It was fun. There were a lot of people this year, and it was very lively. There were also fireworks. Ken Matsudaira played the role of Kenshin. It was very lively.\u201d<\/p>\r\n<p><a class=\"swipebox\" href=\"https:\/\/joetsu.yukiguni.town\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/Still0825_00011-1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter  wp-image-294860\" src=\"https:\/\/joetsu.yukiguni.town\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/Still0825_00011-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"450\" data-low-src=\"https:\/\/joetsu.yukiguni.town\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/Still0825_00011-1-400x225.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/p>\r\n<p>The next day, a rice offering battle was held, with 14 teams carrying mikoshi floats loaded with rice bales up a 1.5-kilometer slope toward Kasugayama Castle.<\/p>\r\n<p><a class=\"swipebox\" href=\"https:\/\/joetsu.yukiguni.town\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/Still0825_00012.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter  wp-image-294861\" src=\"https:\/\/joetsu.yukiguni.town\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/Still0825_00012.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"802\" height=\"451\" data-low-src=\"https:\/\/joetsu.yukiguni.town\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/Still0825_00012-400x225.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/p>\r\n<p>In addition, to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the event, the Myoko City Karayamabushi Preservation Society performed the Karayamabushi stick dance, famous for its fire festival, for the first time at Kasugayama Shrine.<\/p>\r\n<p><a class=\"swipebox\" href=\"https:\/\/joetsu.yukiguni.town\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/Still0825_00013.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter  wp-image-294862\" src=\"https:\/\/joetsu.yukiguni.town\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/Still0825_00013.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"450\" data-low-src=\"https:\/\/joetsu.yukiguni.town\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/Still0825_00013-400x225.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/p>\r\n<p>Karayamabushi Preservation Society Shogo Uchida<br \/>\r\n\u201cIt&#8217;s a rare opportunity. It&#8217;s a historic shrine. I&#8217;m grateful to have been invited for the 100th anniversary. I was able to perform as I had practiced.
