The Takada Joshi Koen Cherry Blossom Festhival is a major cherry blossom viewing event held every spring in Joetsu City, Niigata Prefecture. This year marks the 100th anniversary of the event, and a limited edition of 900 sheets of frame stamps commemorating the event will be on sale at post offices in the Joetsu area from Friday, March 14.<\/p>\r\n

This is the frame stamp commemorating the 100th Cherry Blossom Festival. Along with the cherry blossoms of Takada Castle Site Park, known as one of the three best nighttime cherry blossom viewing spots in Japan, photos of the three-story turret of Takada Castle, the symbol of the park, and the red bridge on the west moat are printed on the stamp. The photos were provided by the Joetsu Convention & Visitors Association.<\/p>\r\n

The project was organized by the Joetsu Area Liaison Committee of the Japan Post. Before the stamps go on sale tomorrow, seven people from the post office visited Joetsu City Hall on Tuesday, August 11 to present the stamps to Mayor Nakagawa.<\/p>\r\n

Until about 10 years ago, the Shinetsu branch of the Japan Post sold frame stamps of the cherry blossom Festival every year at this time.<\/p>\r\n
