Joetsu Aquarium Umigatari"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>A mysterious new face!<\/h2>\r\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/qv-2yXZo4aI?rel=0&amp;controls=1&amp;showinfo=0&amp;modestbranding=1\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\r\n<p>At\u00a0the aquarium museum \u201cUmigatari\u201d in Joetsu City, Niigata Prefecture, halberd sharks caught in the Sea of Japan are on display.<\/p>\r\n<p>Halberd sharks were bought by Umigatari from the Tsutsuishi fishing port in Itoigawa City on September 11th.\u00a0 Currently, two sharks are on display in the cylindrical aquarium for \u201cSquid \/ Octopus\u201d.\u00a0 This is the first exhibition of its\u2019 type at the museum.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.yukiguni-journey.jp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/ffStill0918_00006-3.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter  wp-image-3507\" src=\"https:\/\/www.yukiguni-journey.jp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/ffStill0918_00006-3.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"802\" height=\"538\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.yukiguni-journey.jp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/ffStill0918_00006-3.jpg 1299w, https:\/\/www.yukiguni-journey.jp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/ffStill0918_00006-3-370x248.jpg 370w, https:\/\/www.yukiguni-journey.jp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/ffStill0918_00006-3-800x536.jpg 800w, https:\/\/www.yukiguni-journey.jp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/ffStill0918_00006-3-768x515.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 802px) 100vw, 802px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\r\n<p>As\u00a0the name suggests, halberd sharks are characterized by a proboscis protruding like a blade.\u00a0 They widely inhabit the coastal waters of Japan, on the sandy mud floor, at a depth of 10 to 800m. They find food in the sand using the proboscis, and use their blade-like snout to dig up food on the bottom of the mud.
