A facility where visitors can casually experience bouldering will open on Sunday, March 30 at the Joetsu Wing Market Center in Tomioka, Joetsu City, Niigata Prefecture. The facility is equipped with two climbing walls for both beginners and advanced climbers.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n

Opening at Joetsu Wing Market Center is a bouldering experience facility called “Climbing gym J-Plus. The facility will charge a fee and is approximately 330 square meters in size.<\/p>\r\n

There are two climbing walls of different heights, with the beginners’ wall at 3.6 meters high and 5.4 meters wide.<\/p>\r\n

The facility is operated by J-Tech, an IT company located in Nakatahara, Joetsu City. JTEC decided to build a facility to experience bouldering, a sport that is attracting a lot of attention, in order to attract young people to the Joetsu area.<\/p>\r\n

Top athletes were involved in the installation of the bouldering course, including Shuta Tanaka, a native of Myoko City who was selected to represent Japan in this year’s World Cup in the sport climbing event “lead. Tanaka’s mother is Kaori Tanaka, JTEC’s executive officer and a 30-year sport climber.<\/p>\r\n

Climbing gym J-Plus will open at noon on the 30th of this month. The initial fee is 2,500 yen for adults and 2,000 yen for high school students and younger, including membership registration fee and rental shoes. The gym is currently in pre-opening phase, and only experienced climbers may use the gym for a fee.<\/p>\r\n

\r\nThe population of boulders in Niigata Prefecture is small. I would be happy if some children challenge the higher level competitions and aim for the Olympics.<\/p>\r\n

The facility provides rental shoes, but the smallest size is 21 cm, which means that indoor athletic shoes are required for younger children.<\/p>\r\n
