Suginosawa area’s big winter event is back!<\/h2>\r\n

Dynamite Carnival, a major winter event in the Suginosawa district of Myoko City, Niigata Prefecture, popular among foreign tourists, will be held at Myoko Suginohara Ski Resort on Saturday, the 21st of this month. The full event will be held for the first time in three years, since 2020.<\/p>\r\n

The Dynamite Carnival is organized by the local Suginosawa Tourist Association to allow tourists to enjoy the Dondoyaki, a small New Year’s event held in the Suginosawa area of Myoko City.<\/p>\r\n

At a special venue at Myoko Suginohara Ski Resort, where the event will be held, daytime events will include a stamp rally, a food stall village, and smartphone games with great prizes. Ten stalls are scheduled to open in the food stall village.<\/p>\r\n

In addition to special takoyaki with kanzuri in the batter, the Suginosawa Tourist Association will sell miso ramen noodles with kanzuri, fried chicken, and french fries.<\/p>\r\n

Koshogatsu Event Dondoyaki<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\r\n

In the evening, the koshogatsu event “Dondoyaki” begins at 6:00 pm. After the ritual, a conical tower made of New Year’s ornaments such as kadomatsu and dharma dolls is set on fire to pray for good health and a bountiful harvest. At the climax of the festival, a huge fireworks display is set off to light up the winter night sky.<\/p>\r\n

This year’s Dynamite Carnival will also include the Myoko Cup Sake Festival, which was held last February and was very popular.<\/p>\r\n

You can enjoy a sake drinking contest with a large collection of sake cups from breweries in Niigata Prefecture. You can taste cold sake while roasting and eating surume (dried squid) over the flames of the Dondoyaki.<\/p>\r\n

On the day of the event, free shuttle buses will be available between the Suginosawa, Akakura, Shin-Akakura, and Ikenodaira areas and the venue.<\/p>\r\n
