{"id":11702,"date":"2021-10-07T16:56:29","date_gmt":"2021-10-07T07:56:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.yukiguni-journey.jp\/?p=11702"},"modified":"2021-10-12T13:32:15","modified_gmt":"2021-10-12T04:32:15","slug":"%e5%b2%a9%e3%81%ae%e5%8e%9f%e8%91%a1%e8%90%84%e5%9c%92-%e3%83%9e%e3%82%b9%e3%82%ab%e3%83%83%e3%83%88%ef%bd%a5%e3%83%99%e3%83%bc%e3%83%aa%e3%83%bca%e3%81%a7%e3%83%af%e3%82%a4%e3%83%b3%e4%bb%95%e8%be%bc","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.yukiguni-journey.jp\/en\/11702\/","title":{"rendered":"Iwanohara Vineyard begins wine preparation using Muscat Bailey A!<br>(Joetsu City, Niigata Prefecture)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Wine\u00a0preparation using Muscat Bailey A began on the 6th October at Iwanohara Vineyard in the north of Joetsu City, Niigata Prefecture.\u00a0 Muscat Bailey A is one of the wine grape varieties that were created by Zenbei Kawakami who is said to be the father of Japanese wine grapes.<\/p>\r\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.joetsu.ne.jp\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/Still1006_00000-3.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter  wp-image-157519\" src=\"https:\/\/www.joetsu.ne.jp\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/Still1006_00000-3.jpg\" alt=\"Still1006_00000 (3)\" width=\"800\" height=\"450\" data-low-src=\"https:\/\/www.joetsu.ne.jp\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/Still1006_00000-3-400x225.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/p>\r\n<p>At\u00a0Iwanohara Vineyard, grapes have been harvested since late August and staff have been working on wine preparation.<br \/>\r\n<br \/>\r\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter  wp-image-157523\" src=\"https:\/\/www.joetsu.ne.jp\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/Still1006_00002-1-1.jpg\" alt=\"Still1006_00002 (1)\" width=\"800\" height=\"450\" data-low-src=\"https:\/\/www.joetsu.ne.jp\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/Still1006_00002-1-1-400x225.jpg\" \/><br \/>\r\nAt\u00a0the beginning of the preparation work, the fruit is lightly squeezed while removing the twigs from the bunch of grapes with a machine. \u00a0Then, while running on a conveyor, unripe fruits and leftover twigs are removed by hand. \u00a0This process is mainly done only for Muscat Bailey A. \u00a0According to Mr. Ueno, the chief engineer of the manufacturing department, \u201cThe twigs and the badly colored red grapes are excluded. \u00a0The badly colored ones have a low sugar content.&#8221;<\/p>\r\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter  wp-image-157521\" src=\"https:\/\/www.joetsu.ne.jp\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/Still1006_00005-2-1.jpg\" alt=\"Still1006_00005 (2)\" width=\"802\" height=\"451\" data-low-src=\"https:\/\/www.joetsu.ne.jp\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/Still1006_00005-2-1-400x225.jpg\" \/><\/p>\r\n<p>Muscat Bailey A accounts for 60% of the grapes cultivated in the vineyard. \u00a0Approximately 3.3 tons were prepared on the 6<sup>th<\/sup> October. \u00a0After that, the grapes are fermented in a tank for a week to extract tannins and let the grapes settle. \u00a0After that, the grapes are packed in barrels, stored and aged.\u00a0 \u00a0They will be shipped as premium wine from Iwanohara Vineyard in the fall of next year.<\/p>\r\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter  wp-image-157524\" src=\"https:\/\/www.joetsu.ne.jp\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/Still1006_00001-1-1.jpg\" alt=\"Still1006_00001 (1)\" width=\"800\" height=\"450\" data-low-src=\"https:\/\/www.joetsu.ne.jp\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/Still1006_00001-1-1-400x225.jpg\" \/><\/p>\r\n<p>Mr. Ueno said, \u201cThe weather was good in September, and the temperature difference was great. \u00a0It was warm during the day and quite cool at night. \u00a0Apparently, the color is black and the grapes are ripe, and ready to use. \u00a0There was little rain in September, and good grapes were harvested. \u00a0This year\u2019s grapes are small sized, the spacing is good and not too tightly-packed.
