collages depicting everyday life in Joetsu in the 1940s and 50s will be held at the Gochi History Village Hall<br \/>\r\non 1-chome, Kokufu, Joetsu City until March 31st.<\/p>\r\n<p><a Ikaya Ryokan located in front of Naoetsu Station, a Kubiki Railway steam locomotive and children playing and other scenes showing everyday life during the Showa period.<\/p>\r\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.yukiguni-journey.jp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/Still0301_00005.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter were made by 72-year-old Hideo Nishiyama, from the Ishibashi area in Joetsu.<\/p>\r\n<p>After retirement, Nishiyama taught himself how to make collages, and has made about 200 pieces based on his own memories and old photos.<\/p>\r\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.yukiguni-journey.jp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/Still0301_00001.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter left;\" tabindex=\"0\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">The 54 pieces on display were made in the past year.<\/span><\/div>\r\n<div tabindex=\"0\">\r\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">In Japan, it is traditional for collages to be made using black and white paper, but Nishiyama uses Japanese paper with various colors and patterns.\u00a0 By doing so, he says he can warmly express his feelings of nostalgia.\u00a0 He says it was hard to find Japanese paper that matched the image, but he is very happy with the outcome of the completed work.<\/span><\/p>\r\n<\/div>\r\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.yukiguni-journey.jp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/Still0301_00002.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter era, everyone helped each other and lived happily together.\u00a0 Now it is too convenient, and people are less compassionate.\u00a0 I want the elderly to reminisce over this period and be
