The\u00a0\u201cNIIGATA Nasu(eggplant) Summit\u201d, an event where farmers will showcase the charm of eggplants produced in the prefecture, will be held on Saturday, 17th at \u201cArurun no Mori\u201d in Daidofukuda, Joetsu City, Niigata Prefecture. \u00a0To complement this event, a special plate featuring special eggplant dishes will be offered at Arun no Mori for two days, July 17th and 18th.<\/p>\r\n

This is a special \u201cLuxury plate of carefully selected eggplant dishes \u201d only available for 2 days. \u00a0There are many kinds made with Joetsu\u2019s \u201cMaru Enpitsu Eggplant\u201d and \u201cKoshi no Maru Eggplant\u201d.<\/p>\r\n

The\u00a0plate was created by Hiroki Nobuta, the owner of \u201cIshokuya YAGAIYA\u201d in front of Naoetsu Station. \u00a0Mr. Nobuta said, \u201cI thought about the theme of seasonal vegetables centering on eggplants. \u00a0I really wanted to make the best use of the color.\u00a0 I use several cooking methods that do not impair the color of the eggplant, such as pickles with a sour taste and stew that makes good use of the colors.”<\/p>\r\n

There are five eggplant dishes:\u00a0chicken with an eggplant herb marinade, steamed eggplant with a special flavored miso and ground meat, eggplant soaked in seasoned stock with sweet and sour pickles and special condiments, cold ratatouille with summer vegetables, and red wine compote with eggplant and apple.<\/p>\r\n

The \u201cLuxury plate of carefully selected eggplant dishes\u201d is 1,000 yen including tax. \u00a0Rokka no Sato at Arurun no Mori, will be served \u00a0this dish for two days on the 17th and 18th, limited to 30 meals on both days.<\/p>\r\n

Mr. Nobuta said, \u201cJoetsu Maru enpitsu eggplant is delicious, but it isn\u2019t so well known. \u00a0It has a great taste, but it used to be said that the shape was not suitable for pickles.\u00a0 From now on, I want many people to know how delicious eggplant tastes, whether it is baked, steamed, or pickled.”<\/p>\r\n
