The first world championship in Asia! 
Top athletes are coming to Myoko.

The world championship will be held on February 15th, (Sat) and 16th, (Sun) at Ikenotaira Sports Plaza in Myoko city, Niigata prefecture.

The world snowshoeing championship involves running through a snow field while wearing snowshoes.

The event will be held for the first time in Asia, sponsored by the Japan Snowshoeing Federation and the Ikenotaira Onsen Tourist Association. 
Runners compete to get the best time on the 12km or 5km courses.

World-renowned runners will participate from around the world, including from the USA, France and Spain. 
It is a great chance to watch this exciting race right in front of your eyes. 
The championship will start at 10:00 am on February 16th (Sun).

February 15, 2020 Opening ceremony

The race will be broadcast live on JCV (Joetsu Cable Vision) on that day.
The race will air at the same time and also will be a re-shown on YUKIGUNI JOURNEY.
